His owner, a boy named Lan, travels around in the real world, finding adventures that usually result in him having to jack Mega Man into the Internet, where the Blue Bomber battles viruses in the cyber world.īoth the real and cyber worlds are viewed from an isometric perspective, with the view shifting to an elevated side view during battle sequences. In this series' reality (which is unrelated to the other Mega Man timelines), Mega Man is a computer program (called a Navi) living within a device called a PET that's half personal organizer and half virtual pet. It sounds a bit confusing, but it's really not that complicated. Instead, it's a story-driven, action/adventure game with a card-based battle system. This isn't your typical, side-scrolling Mega Man game. If you've not played a Battle Network title before, you'll definitely feel a bit out of place here. Why not toss an " EX Plus Alpha" in there while you're at it, Capcom? Instead of having both versions combined into one all-inclusive game, however, you simply choose which version you want to play when you begin. Hence, the awkwardly named Mega Man Battle Network 5: Double Team DS. For the first Mega Man game on the DS, Capcom has decided to combine both versions of Battle Network 5 into one cartridge. The only differences are some plot points, different Battle Chips, and different Navis to team up and form unions with. Like the two Battle Network titles before it, two versions of 5 were released - Team Protoman and Team Colonel. Earlier this year (June, to be precise), Capcom released the fifth in its popular Mega Man Battle Network series.
